Early sports watches from Rolex feature gilt dials, which feature a glossy finish. The text and outer minute markers on these dials are a gold colour – hence the term gilt! This 5513 no – Date Submariner ( a favourite here at Bulangandsons!)features an all original fully gloss gilt dial that has a uniform ‘stardust’ patina across the surface. The hour markers are all present and have taken on a nice vanilla shade.The Hands are two shades lighter then the hour markers, react the same under UV light as the the dial does. The case is still fat with strong lugs and crown guards. The bracelet is a later ref.93150 flip-lock in great condition with 580 endlinks and a clasp stamped ‘VD’. The bezel has a black insert fitted, which has a crack at 12 o’clock. The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
